About the Workshop
The Workshop on Information Retrieval for Climate Impact (MANILA25) at SIGIR 2025 aims to bring together researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of information retrieval and climate change. This workshop will provide a platform for discussing how IR technologies can contribute to addressing climate change challenges.
The workshop will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 in Padova, Italy.

Call for Participation
The workshop covers all aspects of IR for climate impact, focusing on:
- Information needs in climate impacts and adaptation
- Systematic review methodologies for climate literature
- Resources and tools for climate impact IR
- Implementation experiences and challenges
Special Theme: Tracking Adaptation
This year’s workshop features a special focus on adaptation tracking, examining approaches, challenges, and opportunities in this critical area.

Workshop Format
MANILA25 will be a half-day workshop focused on four key areas:
- Information needs in climate impact
- Literature search and analysis
- Adaptation tracking
- IR resources and tools
The program includes invited talks, lightning presentations, interactive breakout sessions, and collaborative agenda-setting activities.
